Shift’s work builds networks of community leaders positioned to hold power and governance of health equity resources, advances participatory funding and community decision-making for diverse health equity initiatives, and explores institutional accountability and engagement to deliver on health equity commitments. Currently, Shift advances participatory investing in the health sector, community-rooted healing and justice initiatives, and health equity training and facilitation.
The Institute of Women & Ethnic Studies spearheads a national place-based cohort aimed at aligning health care, public health, and social service systems and promote community leadership to advance racially equitable health and healthcare systems.
ANCHORS IN RESILIENT COMMUNITIES
ARC’s work engages local anchor institutions and community-based organizations for collective governance of health, wealth, and climate commitments. ARC tests community-anchor institution co-design and co-investment to advance field-leading initiatives in the Bay Area and nationwide through a forthcoming Place-Based Initiative focused in 4 cities.
Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency serves as backbone for Healthy Yolo, a multisector initiative ensuring every child enters Kindergarten ready to thrive through community engagement, leveraging sector leadership and aligning funding resources. Yolo County also partners with the Health Education Council to spearhead a CACHI initiative focused on strengthening social connection in West Sacramento.

The national Participatory Investing Action Lab co-designed an innovative community-rooted foundation investment model and toolkit for institutional leaders to test participatory investing.

NEIGHBORWORKS AMERICA HEALTH AND HOUSING INITIATIVES
NeighborWorks is conducting a scan of training resources to advance Shared Equity Housing models across the country. Previously, NeighborWorks convened national leaders for an annual gathering using the Emergent Learning framework to interrogate the core inquiry: How do we center the voices of residents to accelerate community transformation to create thriving, healthy places? NeighborWorks also convened a cohort of Community Development Corporations to explore root causes of health inequities to create a Health Equity Action Plan, using tools available to the field to embed health equity more fully in housing and community development sectors.
METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION CARE PROGRAM
The Community Action Resource & Empowerment program builds on successful participatory budgeting pilots across the Bay Area region to facilitate multisector partnerships, community engagement, and resourcing of community-rooted transportation, climate, and built environment initiatives aimed at improving equitable health and well-being.
WHOLE RIVER IMPACT MASTER CLASS
The Whole River IMPACT: the Initiative for Measurable Portfolio Action toward Community Transformation is national program to support health conversion foundations deepen their equity-forward impact investing strategies. Through a mix of individualized coaching and network building, the aim is to surface actionable strategies to scale commitments to impact investing and to surface field insights to accelerate momentum toward a north star of whole portfolio approaches to investment.

BARHII convenes health equity leaders from Local Health Departments across California. The Community of Practice focuses on Transforming Community Coalitions to Unlock Local Power and Community-Led Investments.
